At just 15 years old and a sophomore in high school, I launched my first entrepreneurial venture, CurlsandK9s. During the pandemic, I taught myself how to sew, inspired by my love for my rescue Hound, Maxine, and my childhood Yorkie, Barry, who had been by my side since I was 2 years old. As I navigated the challenges of learning to sew and building a business, they remained my constant companions, joining me in every step, from stitching to modeling in adorable photoshoots.
CurlsandK9s quickly grew into a thriving Etsy shop, combining my love for creating stylish pet accessories with the joy of spending time with my furbabies.
In September 2023, I faced the devastating loss of Barry, who passed suddenly from heart failure at nearly 16 years old. Losing my best friend left an immeasurable void, and I took time away from the business to mourn and reflect.
In March 2024, I welcomed a 12-week-old rescue puppy, Mina, into my life. Through her playful energy and infectious silliness, she helped bring light back into my days, filling a small part of the space Barry left behind. Inspired to carry on his memory, I decided to rebrand my business as Max and Mina Co., honoring both my past and present companions.
